Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What's the difference between your school and a product school like Redken, Paul Mitchell or Aveda?
A: Product schools are generally a franchise school in which they only use their own product and method of teaching so when you work in a salon you will only use their product. They would also like you to think that they offer you a better education then we do or you can get a better job. This is absolutely not true at all! In fact, very few salons use only one product. Think about it; wouldn't life be dull if you had only one choice for a car, or one style of jeans, or only one color for a lipstick or nail polish? So why would you want to go to a school that only teaches and uses one product? Get real!
You deserve a complete education at a school like Toledo Academy. One that is fun. Where beauty, science and art comes together to give you the best education possible, with no emphasis on just one product.
When you visit our schools, you'll experience our award winning teaching style that makes our graduates stand out in any salon.
Furthermore, these product schools charge much more in tuition but don't give you anymore than we do. These schools usually charge froom $13,000 to $17,000 and want you to get a loan to pay for it. Our tuition is much more affordable and because we are nationally accredited, we have a variety of ways to pay for schooling.
Q: What does accreditation mean?
A: Accreditation means that a school has been evaluated by a team of experts in the field of cosmetology and found to meet the highest standards.
Some of these standards include:
Current books and equipment.
Current curriculum's which are periodically updated
Instructors have training experience beyond minimum requirements.
Safe and modern facilities
Fairness in all financial transactions
Employment assistance
Graduate follow-up
This is why educators and high school counselors recommend prospective students to choose an accredited school. It assures you are going to a reputable school.
Q: Are all schools accredited?
A: Definitely not! All beauty schools must be approved by the state board, but these are only minimum requirements.
Toledo Academy of Beauty Culture is northwest Ohio and southeastern Michigan's only nationally accredited beauty school.
We're proud of our national reputation and it's results-thousands of successful graduates in top salons all across the country.
Many are salon owners, award-winning stylists, platform artists, color specialists, nail technicians and make-up artists. Compare our schools to others and see why Toledo Academy Training makes the difference.
Q:Why choose a Multiple Product School?
A: As we mentioned before, we don't associate ourselves with one product line or teaching method. Variety is a spice of life! We train our students using many of the top beauty products.. Therefore, every student has knowledge of the latest product developments and the most up to date techniques and styles. And you won't find our products in drug and discount stores like Redken or Paul Mitchell. We are truly professional.
In fact, Toledo Academy of beauty is so "cutting edge"; we developed our own hair care line called "Splash 4 Hair". We've combined nature and technology to create a superior product for a superior school. The key ingredient is olive leaf extract, which is pictured on every package. Olive leaf extract contains natural antioxidants that protect hair from sun, pollution and free radical damage. When combined with keratin protein and active botanicals such as aloe, chamomile, rosemary and others known for their natural conditioning properties, hair becomes nourished, shiny, soft and strong. This is a Toledo Academy exclusive and another reason why our students have the competitive edge.
Here are some of the other professional products we use: Cairol, Wella, O.P.I., Backscratchers, Bioelements Skin Care, Freedom Control, Body High Spa, Christie Ashley Pedicure.
