Becoming an Esthetician was such a great choice for me. I really enjoy helping clients with skin care problems and helping them feel great. I also took classes to do full body relaxation massage. This field has opened so many doors for me. The more you put in the more you get out. I would suggest learning to do as many things as you can to build your clientele."

"Upon graduating high school, I had NO idea what I wanted to do in life. My parents put the pressure on me to decide, so I chose cosmetology school. I figured 18 months of education was better than 4 years. I visited a couple of schools in the area and decided on Toledo Academy of Beauty Culture. I didn't realize, until months later, that it was one of the best decisions I had ever made.
I started TABC in September 2000. A few weeks into school I still wasn't feeling the whole beauty industry. Then Miss Chris and Miss Bonnie started pressuring me to get things done and get them done RIGHT! In no time at all I realized how important the beauty industry is and how many different avenues you can take with it. I fell in love with the fact that I was responsible for not only making people look beautiful, but also feel beautiful. Miss Chris and Miss Bonnie kept pushing me harder and harder and made me do more and more of the services that terrified me.
After graduating, I worked in two different salons for about a year each, then I decided to open a salon of my own. (Miss Chris always told me that was the only way I would happy.) I have had Concepts Salon in Bowling Green for just over 3 years now and I love it!! Hair is my passion. I couldn't see doing anything else with my life. I am working on furthering my career even more and becoming an educator for one of the fastest growing companies in the industry. TABC opened up a whole new me. It gave me confidence in my life and brought out an artistic side that I never knew I had."

"I got my start at Toledo Academy. I chose this school for its excellent reputation, and high quality of education, which gave me the foundation for success. The school also found my first job at the prestigious David Broadway Salon & Spa. After working there for five years and building up my own clients, I ventured out on my own and now I rent a booth at the very popular Camelot Salon. I have been there for 13 years and love the profession more and more each day. I also had the thrill of watching the taping of Regis & Kathy Lee Show and Regis even let me cut his hair. And every year after, for the next five years I would cut his hair when I visited New York City. I still come back to Toledo Academy as a guest artist and teach classes for all the students.
